You can help make a new MRI scanner available to the people of Guelph! | Together We Care - Guelph General Hospital

You can help make a new MRI scanner available to the people of Guelph!

Yes! A $15 donation can make a difference to someone who needs an MRI scan.

Our generous community came together 14 years ago to fund Guelph General’s first MRI scanner. Now it’s time to replace it with a more powerful one.

Do we have your support to give Guelph General Hospital a powerful new MRI scanner?

Today, up to 15,000 MRI scans are completed annually to diagnose and monitor injuries and illnesses.

A new MRI will:

Improve image quality. Doctors will be able to see smaller details with greater clarity, leading to earlier and more accurate diagnosis.

Be up to 2x faster! A scan that now takes 30 minutes could be completed in 15 to 20 minutes.

Help more patients. GGH will be able to complete more patient scans per hour of operation. And the new scanner is capable of producing images for a broader range of injuries and illnesses.

An MRI scanner will do 150,000 scans over its 10-year lifespan. The operational costs of running it are paid by the Ontario government, including staffing and supplies. However, donations like yours pay for the upfront equipment costs. The new scanner will cost $2.25 million to purchase and install, this means a $15 donation will support the equipment cost for one patient scan over the lifespan of the new MRI scanner!

Your donation today will be counted towards the Hospital’s most urgent Together, We Care campaign, helping to reach our $34-million fundraising goal!
